Randy Wilson

Randy was born in Joplin and raised on a farm south of Duenweg. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1967. Following his High School graduation, Randy felt called to the ministry so he enrolled at Ozark Christian College (OCC). While attending OCC, he served as the Associate Minister with the Christian Church in Oswego, Kansas and met the local Funeral Director and determined this was the ministry he had been called to serve. Following graduation from OCC, he enrolled at the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, Dallas, Texas and graduated in 1972. Randy was ordained into Christian Ministry in 1972.

In 1982, Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin merged with the HedgeLewis Funeral Home bringing Randy to Webb City. Randy has remained active with both funeral homes for 34 years. Due to the recent sale of Hedge-Lewis, Randy is serving at Mason-Woodard.

Randy is married to the former Carrie Gibson. They have 3 children, Julie Woods (Justin) of Texas, Courtney Hill (Ryan) of Lee’s Summit, MO and Ryan Gibson of Chicago, IL. Additionally, they have been blessed with 5 wonderful grandchildren.

Randy and Carrie are active at College Heights Christian Church, Joplin, MO. They are weekly hosts to a community group of college students, adding 10 college age students to their “family”.

Randy is a member of the Missouri Funeral Director’s Association; Past President of the Ozark Christian College Alumni Association; former Board Member of the Cerebral Palsy Center in Webb City; Past-President of the Webb City-Carl Junction Rotary Club; Past President of the Webb City Area Chamber of Commerce; actively involved in Webb City CARES; and member of the Friday morning Webb City Liars Club. Since 1999 he has served as Chairman of the Education Committee for the WC Chamber of Commerce, which is responsible for the Cardinal Awards. One of his favorite activities was serving as a Business Partner at Eugene Field Elementary for WC CARES, sponsoring monthly limousine rides to special 3rd and 4th-grade students. A highlight of the year as a member of the WC Liars Club is providing a Christmas party to the special needs students of the Webb City School District.

Randy has been an active member of the community for many years. The Foundation is pleased to honor Randy for his many contributions to the community.
